They met at orientation, just two new soldiers with everything to prove and nothing to lose.

Maine laughed when Wash introduced himself with a rigid, “Agent Washington,” and immediately proceeded to greet him with a, “Nice to meet you, Wash.”

He grinned when he saw Wash’s mouth twitch slightly- from anger or amusement he didn’t know. Needless to say, it was never “Agent Washington” again- only Wash.

basiacat asked: Alright, YOUR turn for Wash/Maine (this is my OTP of all OTPs and I didn't want to vomit slash onto everyone's dash sob).

-They started as just he best of bros. They fought well together, even though, especially Wash was somewhat of a protocol banging pansy and Maine was an all out “let’s fuck this up” fighter.

-Wash admired Maine for that kind of attitude, even though Maine’s schemes sometimes got them in trouble, they helped him let loose every once in a while.

-Maine drug Wash to a “drunkmas” party at the beginning of Project: Freelancer. (You see, the Director would lock himself in his office every Christmas with a bottle of scotch and yell at the walls about how Allison had left him, so the Freelancers took advantage of that and got drunk themselves). Neither of them are quite sure how it happened, but they ended up making out in the corner. Nothing more happened, but the next morning Wash was quite embarrassed he had gotten “that drunk” (his own words).

-He continued to use alcohol to justify his actions to himself and as an excuse for the other Freelancers until Maine cornered him, this time completely sober, and kissed him. This made Wash shut up about all of his excuses, and they started sleeping together soon after.

-They didn’t talk about their relationship much, it was just there. Wash went out with South briefly during this period. Maine didn’t say anything about it, but when Wash and South broke up, he just picked up where they left off in their relationship.

-Shit started falling apart when they were implanted with their respective AIs and Project: Freelancer started to fall. Maine did the best he could to support Wash with Epsi, but Wash wouldn’t tell him anything about the memories.

-When Epsi committed suicide and he was classified Article 12, Was was removed from the program and put in extensive therapy. To keep an eye on him, the Director moved him to a wing of the infirmary where he was monitored 24/7. After all, he was studying the effects of AI on the Freelancers, and he was actually quite pleased that he had something new to study. (he’s kind of a sick fucker).

-Maine started to go crazy around then as well, as Sigma started feeding him information about the Alpha. Without Wash as a grounding presence, he went wild. He was even more aggressive than normal, purposefully hurting- even maiming other Freelancers to get their AI. He stole several before he broke out of the program.

-Wash slowly began to heal from Epsi’s fuckery, but by that time Freelancer was pretty scattered. Sigma had started an uprising among the AI for the Alpha, and many of the Freelancers (like York and Wyoming) had gone on the lam. Several of the Freelancers (Tex) remained in contact with Freelancer, as long as they sent her missions.

-And then Wash was put on the Meta’s case and the rest is history.

Little tidbits:

-Maine is a total cover hog. More than that, he would habitually fall off the bed and drag the covers with him.

-They would go into the training rooms, late at night, to practice sparring, but would accidentally end up making out.

-Maine gave Wash his nickname and refused to put up with any of his protocol banging.

Day 5- Character you would most like to go on a date with

Seriously who would I not go on a date with?  Okay that’s actually really easy: Maine, Wyoming and the Director.  But since drawing everyone would just be a pain in the arse I settled on two…

I’d go on a date with Wash just to see if I could make him laugh (the one time he actually laughs it makes me grin…) and I’d go on a date with Tucker just… because.  He’s awesome.  And I do reckon he’s lying through his teeth about being such a ladies man.  The irony is - I was discussing with a friend at the start of the month - I reckon he’s a really handsome man but his personality seriously lets him down.

And because I wouldn’t be me if there wasn’t totally pointless extra rambling:-

Somehow my headcanon (since about 6AM while I was fighting with my computer and apparently thinking about this question)  is that Wash never really knows how to dress for things like this; he prefers the whole armour thing, it makes life much easier.  While I figure North’s the kind of guy who just always looks effortlessly cool no matter what he wears, Wash frets and worries.  The term ‘smart casual’ just makes him nervous: too smart?  Too casual?  So he’d try the whole suit jacket and T-shirt thing but he’d be nervous non-stop.

WTF shoot me now why am I even thinking about this?

Tucker, on the other hand, we already know has fuckall dress sense and goes to dates in the most inappropriate clothing.

Agreed, but I would totally go on a date with the Director. Power is sexy.

Some Wash headcanon

-He comes from a fairly well-to-do family.

-Born and raised in Mukilteo, Washington.

-He has messy, dark brown hair and dark blue eyes. About 5’10.

-His middle name is Michael.

-Maine nicknamed him Wash. When he first joined Freelancer, he was having every call him Washington. Maine would have none of that.

-Joined the Marines because it appealed to him. He figured that was how he could be someone in life.

edit: I was looking at some screen caps, and Wash is shorter than Carolina. So he got knocked two inches.

regret-regret-regret:

So I loved reading the additional reblog comments, I adore stuff like this.  I don’t get out much, you can probably tell.  So during some quiet moments I went through a bunch of eps and took screenshots of those times people stood side by side (or back to back, looking at you there North and South).

I think North’s height is misleading…  he’s freakishly big!  I’m not even sure Maine’s as big as him (and he’s bigger than Wyoming and York).

Wyoming, York and Tex are all approximately the same height (at least according to these pictures…), and York is a bit shorter than Wash (missed that, too busy being distracted by his face and blue eye).  CT is significantly shorter than Wash - on a par with Carolina (and how did I miss that before??).  South is… probably the same size as Wash but it’s hard to tell.  When they’re side by side she’s leaning forward on the window ledge and she’s shorter, but he isn’t leaning as far forward as she is so if she’s not the same height she might be a little smaller or taller (who knows, maybe the freakish!tall genes run in the family?)

Of course, it all depends on the angle the shot’s at too, because for a few brief moments Wash got to be as tall as North.  *g*

Just to make things awkward, there’s the shot from the trailer of North, York and Tex all back to back and all the same height…  And finally, to make things even more fun, there’s that poster where basically everyone’s the same height.  :D

Can you tell I love to make picspams and take any excuse to rewatch things…?

It seems like there are several times in the North and South episode where South seems much smaller than North. Oh course, he is freakishly tall, so she could be normal sized and small compared to him.

But omg, Freelancer pic spam. I love these.

So, I’ve mentioned this a couple of times, but I write an AU with a friend set after Season 8 of Red vs. Blue in which Agent Washington gets pulled back into the Director’s service and assigned a new A.I. Said A.I. happens to be York, because the Director’s got some creepy experiments running again on Freelancers who’ve died in the service, and the two of them have to go track down the Meta, who’s taken some of these new A.I. for himself.

It started out as RP, but it’s turned into something resembling a lot like a fic, so I thought I’d give it a plug. We post it to a community on LJ and are slowly catching up (about 80,000 words of the 230k we’ve written on the main plot are posted), along with some other things. At this point, we’ve written too much to try and edit it into an actual fic, but it works pretty well this way and lets us develop their characters more. That and we get to write passive-aggressive letters for the Director and the Chairman.

If there’s interest, I can post updates when we post more, or you can just check out the community it’s posted on. /o/

Definitely going to check this out in the next hour or so.

BECAUSE YORK. AND WASH. And I really really enjoyed the couple oneshot/drabbles of yours that I have read.
